Anxiety / Panic Attacks
Introduction
Ben's Story
A person suffering from anxiety is excessively anxious and worries a lot. The person finds
it hard to control the worrying. The worrying and anxiety the person experience can also
be accompanied by muscle tension, sleeping problems, irritability, difficulty to concentrate,
fatigue and restlessness.
Physical symptoms such as sweating, shaking, choking, chest pain, nausea, dizzyness and
fear of losing control or of dying can accompany the anxiety and the person can develop a
panic attack.
It is recommended that people suffering from anxiety start Inner Child Therapy. The source
of the anxiety and panic is usually found in early childhood where the little girl or boy
you once were experienced fear. This could be as far back as in utero or during birth.
You will not be able to remember this consciously, but with therapy you will be able to heal
the inner child and the anxiety will get better.
Ben started to get anxious in Grade 11. The thought of going to school caused him to
sweat and experience severe chest pain. Ben's mother could see that Ben was not well. She
allowed him to stay at home, hoping that the anxiety would subside. One week at home
turned into two weeks and the two weeks turned into two months. Ben made up excuses for
not going to school. When nothing would work anymore, he decided to try his masterplan and
told his parents that he was molested by one of the teachers at school. Ben's mom did not
realize Ben told this lie out of desperation. His anxiety was so intense that he would do
and say anything to stay home.
The school got impatient and told Ben's parents that he would be put in foster care if they
did not get him back in school.
Out of desperation Ben's parents decided that Ben should try therapy. Ben told his therapist
that the teachers were abusing him emotionally. She started the session by asking him to
go back to the first time he ever felt this anxiety. The source of the anxiety was still
trapped in his subconscious mind although he could not remember it consciously.
Ben started to cry. "I am just born. I can see the blood on my body. I want to go back.
I am not ready yet. I want to go back to the warmth of my mommy. I do not want to leave
her".
Something trigged Ben when he was 17 years old and in his subconscious mind the little inner
child within took control of Ben. The anxiety Ben felt was the anxiety of the little baby.
The therapist worked with Ben's inner child. The baby could finally express all the emotions
he carried from birth and felt relieved. Ben could make a new decision that he was now
ready to be born and go into the world. As the little inner child was healed, Ben's anxiety
also disappeared. Within a few days Ben went back to school.
